Yesterday, at Apple's "Back to the Mac" event, Apple unveiled many exciting updates. New iLife 11 with better social integration, App Store coming to the Mac (more on this later), Facetime, and the all new MacBook Air.

The new Air is really beautiful, ultra slim, and have that Apple "gimme gimme gimme" factor. My Apple senses are tingling all over. I want one!

It just doesn't make sense. The MacBook Air is not good enough. It doesn't solve the problem.

The reason is where we are headed. The future is mobile first, desktop second. We are right now at the start of a transition, and everything will change in the next 10 years.

The MacBook Air has four problems. It cannot stand alone, it lacks power, its price, and the iPad.
