From Sketch to Photo - Automatically

A number of people have pointed me towards PhotoSketch, a research/student project from Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at National University of Singapore (now there is a mouthful).

Supposedly a couple of students have figured out a way to automatically turn a sketch into a composite image, complete with amazing image extraction and other really cool stuff. All by simply by taking pictures from the internet.

Just take a look at the video below.

I must admit, that this sounds a bit too good to be true, but then again - you never know.

The thing is though. These guys could make a fortune if they have invented a way to automatically extract parts of an image. Every single marketing department on the planet needs that. The sketch thing is just a bonus.
