No Taxes for Mac Users.

Written by | Friday, March 19, 2004 | Section: opinion

I am constantly amazed how government institutions can spend millions of dollars on web-designs that is down-right user hostile and inaccessible on any other system than Windows.

The latest example? Today, the Danish Tax Office said that their new site will not support Mac and Linux users, as well as Opera, because it will be too expensive to support them.

  • Their solution: Go to the library...
  • My solution: Use the latest web-standards (XHTML/CSS). It would minimize the overall cost, be easier to maintain, decrease development time, and make the site accessible across platforms and browsers.

As a funny note, they did decide to support Netscape.
