We have all seen the latest iPhone ad from Apple, you know, the one where they say everything goes twice as fast. Today, a friend of mine sent me a video that might put things in a slightly different perspective.

How about trying it with a WiFi connection? I'm pretty sure that Apple is dishonestly using a WiFi connection in their ad. Or maybe they've manipulated it completely...
Try with WiFi and see if it is similar to the commercial!

George, I just tried it over Wi-Fi, and even with my 8mbps connection I cannot get that kind of performance.
In the ad it takes 7 seconds to upon up safari (to show NYTimes preloaded), zoom in on the top article, click on it and go the the article page. It took me 22 seconds. It took 27 seconds in the real world test above using 3G.
so Wi-fi is faster, but still three times slower than what you see in the ads.
BTW: I also tried it using my HTC Touch Diamond - over Wi-fi... and it took a staggering 52 seconds. By far the longest time was when I had to switch from the startup screen to the already loaded Opera. That took almost 20 seconds.
So while I think Apple is putting a bit too much spin on their ads, it is still the fastest multi-purpose phone in general usage.

There is another reason for Apple to edit it to be faster besides trying to mislead customers as to the real "speed" of their phone.
Advertising costs. The shorter the ad is, the less it costs to put up. The less the ads cost, the less the phone costs.
Apple scores double-win. Again.

Aku, I am sure that the duration of the ad had something to do with it. I think the main reason why people is "up in arms" about this commercials, is that it is about speed itself.
If they didn't mention "twice as fast" all the time, but just said: "you can browse the net, find where you are, and read your email", then it would have been fine with most people... but they had to say "twice as fast" at the end of each sentence :)
in our country iphones are too expensive so noboy buy ipod. I am using Ipod nano it is wonderful
