Facebook's Upcoming Spam Filter

Facebook is playing around with a new feature for Page owners - a spam filter to combat the many spam posts that are often causing great nuisance for big brands, fundraising groups, and political parties.

Facebook is working on a way to fix that. They will try to filter out the worst of it and allow you to review, remove or approve individual posts.

It appeared on a few Facebook pages last night, but only for a short while. And it didn't actually work. All the messages marked as spam were false positives, and there was no way to approve a post.

The spam folder itself is hidden under the status message box, and in the settings you could define if it should be visible to anyone, or just the page administrators.

But for now it has gone back into hiding, presumably while Facebook's developers are adding the finishing touches and refine the spam detection algorithms.
