Le Mans Live Tracker is ready for the race

Written by on June 12, 2009

Every year I go nuts about Le Mans (at least according to some women I know). Not only do I watch the race, I also create a ton of other stuff to make the entire experience more fun.

One of these is the 24 hours of Le Mans - LIVE Tracker. And this year I am doing something new. In the past it would only show the real-time standings, and official race events. But this year it uses the of power social media to bring the latest news from the teams and drivers who are using Twitter. As well as, all the other fans watching the race.

That means that you get a lot of 'inside information' during the race. Stuff that the traditional media, and TV commentators doesn't know - as well as pictures taken by the pit crews themselves. The tracker 'follows' 15 drivers/teams tweeting live during the race.

You can also read reactions and comments from fans. Like that it rained so much on Wednesday that several tents was flooded. What the weather is like. The excitement of meeting the driver's close-up and personal.

This is a great example of the real power of Social News. Not only are you getting much more information than any traditional news source would ever be able to provide. You get information from the whole event, not just where the cameras are pointing.

The Le Mans Live Tracker simply puts all of this in a single 'life stream'. It's like a customized Le Mans 'news reader'.
