How Google Street View Works

Published: September 14, 2009 in design » movies by Thomas Baekdal

Google is constantly been ‘attacked' by privacy advocates over their Google Street View feature. Apparently people do not like other people taking pictures of the streets they live on.

So Google Japan decided to show the public how Google Street View really works (see video below). They wanted to give people the idea that it is just the cutest thing. And, that they are working late at night removing anything that might be of a concern to you.

Funny video!

I make minimalist games and read a lot of stuff. I love pineapple juice.

Great tactics, Google.

Sometimes progress requires little sacrifices, so why not dress them up real cute.

Hey, maybe Google wants world domination, but at least they're geniuses.

The Google car has taken pictures of me both in Paris last year (still haven't found myself) and in Sweden last week (haven't been activated yet).

I was stoked to see myself walking from my car to my house in a Google Earth image. But seriously, the street view camera never takes pictures from private property. Everything they can see from a public piece of property is literally "public domain" and fair game to use commercially or otherwise unless they infringe on a trademark.
