Rocks, stones and pebbles have been used as decorative objects since... well... the stone age actually. But, rocks are usually a bit hard to be around. They often look cool, but you wouldn't exactly hug one - until now!
Stephanie Marin is the creator of these amazing looking stones, which is actually very soft and comfortable cushions. Made of 100% virgin wool no less - although I have absolutely no idea what makes wool "virgin"... was it never used before? Or is it from sheep that have never had sex? Who knows... but they look amazing (the cushions, not the sheep).
Update: See also Ronal Jordaan's Rock Cushions (much better looking than the ones above)

And realistic.
Lovely cushions.

Genius

Truly Zen, the effect of decorating with natural objects is indeed calming.

Inane!

Banal!

Simple, stunning, playful, ultra cool...what else does one need ;)

It's fun until some steals your expensive rock cushions and replaces them with rocks and then you do a flying faceplant into your soft cushions and then you have to get new furniture cause your rocks have blood on them and your face hurts and you have to watch the superbowl sitting on bloody rocks.

lovely.... koooooooollllllll.......

This hurt my brain... "One problem with stones is, while they look cool being around them is usually a bit hard - but not anymore."

Jeff, he he - that would be a mean practical joke
JMO, It hurt my brain too... so I changed it

inane and also insane

Go Gators?

OMG! TISFS!!!

Rock on!

Eggs have no place dancing with stones

virgin wool comes from ugly sheep, so the old joke goes

Ha!!! Ugly sheep...

AHH
They look like they're going to hurt so much when you jump on them.

Amazingly realistic! Perfect for relaxing!

great !

amazing!
i want it!

Where can you get these? And how much are they?
I'm a rock theif. I always bring small rock home from my travels, much to my husbands chagrin. These are perfect.

Very, very cool. I'd love to load a bunch of those into the living room.

Very nice except for someone like me. I AM ALLERGIC TO WOOL! even thinking of lying on one right now Im scratching myself

cool...
great idea....!!!
love it.
want it..

lovely
really, want it
tottemo hoshii ! (-japanese)

So cool. But I didn't see a price or how to buy.

a m a z i n g ! :) i want some!

Genius!!!!!!!!!
wow, just like the Cape Breton, Nova Scoitia shore line. . . .. . . love them, what beautiful work!

What's so exciting having giant rocks at home. So uncomfortable. Plus some of these seems huge, it may severely damage the floor.

The rock furniture is way cool! Wouldn't mind having in my home at all. It would go with my southwest theme so well, just through in a few cactus!

Cool pics and a fun product. "Virgin" wool is wool that has been spun for the first time. This implies the fibers are generally longer and the overall product is more soft.
I really like those.
They look good, and comfy. And no one can say that you're a messy person when you throw them around.
I mean you can even pretend that they're really heavy and real, then throw them at someone. Funny heh.

I really want some of these!

Legal!!
hey there
i know the originator of this idea, a South African designer called Ronel Jordaan.... she's been doing it for years, and has become welknown for her felt artworks internationally.
check out our willowlamp site! we are the original flat-pack chain chandelier creators! I like your personal site. It's inspiring.

Hi,
Can we buy these somewhere ?
cheers,
X

wow! realy fantastic . I like it . go on......

I find it very disturbing how Ronel Jordaan's (the original designer) products are copied,in detail,by others. Ideas cannot be copyrighted but a designers integrity should prevent such theft
I love them. I could imagine some funny pranks being done with them :P

These are the greatest! I would love to have some!
what perfect "furniture" for house concerts...
little rocks for sitting on up front, bigger ones for those in the back.
now I know that house concerts are not the only thing that rocks!!!
I see in it some energy of really stones, but soft of pillows, very interesting
omg thiese wud b sooooooooooooooooo cool to have -imagine being squished by a rok and then lifting it up and everyonnre tinks ur superman!;)

*thinks

ha paula thats funny(55)

Zen !!! Buddha !!! Peace !!! Nature!!! Aura! Ambience!!! Modern !!! Natural!!!
These words are definitely gonna make me shell out a fortune for these cushion rocks....NOT. I can buy a decent piece of traditional furniture for a fraction of what these things cost. While I personally love the idea, overpriced and avant-garde do not go hand in hand.

come on! how could you copy such an obviously original idea and try sell it as your own. sad!
I love this, my little brother would go crazy over this as he is always picking up rocks and things. His birthday is coming up....

Virgin wool is wool that has never been used before.
Because wool is such a fabulous fiber, it can be reused or recycled into another product. In that case, it is no longer "virgin."
These "stone" pillows are delightful!

Hi All,
just a reminder to all those who left venomously flavored comments about the allegedly "stolen" idea of rock furniture, there are such things as parallel creative streams of consciousness. I, as a working artist, have several times had what to me was an original idea. I then come to find another artist has created something in the same vein, sometimes just about identical, , before or after me. I believe neither stole the idea. The ideas were simply synchronicitous, or their time has come. I will even grant that Stephanie Marin may have seen an exhibit of Ronal Joordan's Sculpture, and not given credit to her muse.
However, you cannot truly compare these two creations. Their similarity ends at CUSHION.
One is a well tailored cushion, sewn then felted. Artistic furniture if you will. The other is an original work of art, a felted sculpture, which is used as furniture.
Apples and oranges.
Lets just enjoy the playfulness of these creations.

Congratulations OBAMA!!
Wow! They're really beautiful cushions- I think you have to have a certain type of home to pull them off, but they're fantastic!

they are lovely but she didn't make them first it was ronel jordaan!

I wish I had these when I was a kid! Actually, I wish I had them now. Gimmie. :)
these r stupid. when i first saw them i loved them. i spent two years of my life trying to track down the cost now i doubt they will ever be for sale. whats the point in making an extroardinary new creation that everyone wants and then not selling them?
