At this September's Apple event, Steve Jobs announced the new iPod Touch and said "It got the same gorgeous 3.5 inch display, but it is even thinner"... "And if you didn't think the last one could get even thinner, you got to get your hands on one of these".
Well, that is not entirely true. While some parts of it are thinner, it is actually slightly thicker when you place it next to the old one.
But that said, the new one is wonderful for your hands. It is much more comfortable to hold. The softly curved back and the rounded edges make it feel like it is a part of your hand.
I do miss the dark-gray front border though. The old one looked like something Batman might use...
The best new thing is not the volume controls or the built in speaker... it is that new 2.1 (or 2.1.1) software update. Apple seemed to have fixed all the bugs. Safari used to crash all the time, now it just runs smoothly - and faster too.

The problem with Apple is that if you wait a year, something new will come out again one year later :)

Same goes for the newer Iphone. Feels a little bit more luxurious and thinner than my old one but heavier. And the 3G benefits over EDGE? It is so spotty I would have done better to just wait another year before upgrading.
