Trionic Morphatractable Engineer

Published: February 10, 2008 in design » art by Thomas Baekdal

The lives of robots have always been a topic explored by authors and artists alike. Isaac Asimov have written some of the best novels in the history of robots, DreamWorks created the computer animated movie "Robots" in 2005 and Pixar is currently making Wall-E (and it looks to be stunning).

But it is not just the "big guys" who create amazing robotic art. Independent artist Andrew Chase is making this 50-page picture book about the Robot TME - short for "Trionic Morphatractable Engineer".

I want one of those little robot things. Not necessarily such a lively one, but just one that would sit on the edge of my bookshelf would be cute.

And of course I'd like to see how the story develops. :)

These are amazing. I appreciate how Andrew has taken the time to understand each animal's anatomy and to translate that into a mechanical form. It is at once elegant, expressive and animated. I also like the marble eyes.
