Today I am launching a new section here at Baekdal.com - called Future Trends. This section will focus on emerging technology, future trends, interaction concepts, and many of the amazing experiments that people make every day.
Like my Design section, the future section is designed to be an extension to my articles. It is a place to get inspired and see what other people are doing. The future section, in particular, is intended to give you an urge to change, and try out new possibilities and technology. Something I feel is very important.
A number of people have asked me "what is Baekdal.com really all about", and it is actually pretty simple. Baekdal.com is about "The great product", or the great experience. It is about breaking with mediocrity and it is about pushing us forward.
To put it in simple terms, it is about these 8 elements:
These are the elements that I define to be the key elements to creating a great product. This is the areas where I think you should focus your energy. When you do this, you can create a great products and that, in turn, creates value (which is really what it is all about).
On Baekdal.com I am already writing about 6 of the 8 elements, but I wasn't really exploring the future trends or the many experiments that people make. This is what the Future Trends section is supposed to do.
So take a look at Future Trends. I have published 4 trend articles this weekend to get things going, and more is coming.
And remember that I love feedback (especially if it is constructive).
Second note: I have also updated my RSS feeds. Some people have been complaining that they could not see the videos. You still can't (but that is really the fault of your feed reader), but now, at least, you can see the video key frame.
