Typographic Movies

It is amazing what we can do with words, especially when we mix them with a bit of typography, creative thinking, motion and sound.

A lot of us (in the web developer profession) remember the excellent Web 2.0 movie that came out earlier this year (which I found over at JustAddWater.dk).

But, there are also a lot of people who are experimenting with typographic movies as art, which is really cool - and gives us a surprising sensation when looking at it.

Take this one based on Pulp Fiction. It is just brilliant.

...or what about these:

Ocean Eleven

Typografia

Duck & Cover

USA

The Lions Roar

Brazil Typography

Streetlight Manifesto

Hey Ya

Who's on first (funny)

Eleanor Rigby

Trusted Computing

Google Master Plan

The purpose of this article is to illustrate the marvels of typographic movies, not to make a political statement. Please see these movies as brilliant examples of graphic art, and leave it to other sites to discuss the politics.

Update: Added Google Master Plan and Trusted Computing, thanks!

Nice collection! I watched all videos. "Brazil Typography" is my favorite. Every still is a artwork on it's own.

I really love these typographic movies. I didn't know them until recently. The first one I saw was a hip-hop music video on YouTube: http://youtube.com/watch?v=tD5WlQ54Sg0 (explicit lyrics). It's style and subject are similar to "Duck & Cover" and "USA", so maybe there's a connection there.

You should definitely add to this list Trusted Computing and Google Master Plan movies too...

Is the Google Master Plan and USA done by the same guys? USA makes some sense, but what they're talking about is known as the Military Industrial Complex. The Google one I'm not so sure about.

Hmm, nice collection of typography movies :) Both politically and visually.

Like Blaise I did not know there were so many of them. I only knew the Pulp Fiction movie until now. Thank you for helping my enlightenment.
