An Eco-Friendly Christmas Tree

I used to believe that a normal Christmas tree, gathered from the woods, would be an eco friendly place to put my Christmas presents. You know, it's a tree! It's organic, biodegradable and doesn't include a single piece of plastic (except, of course, for the Christmas decorations).

But apparently I was wrong...

While the pine tree sure looks lovely and smells like Christmas tradition... based on our audit it requires approximately five times the energy and water to grow and creates around 25 times the solid waste!

What do you do if you want to be eco-friendly and still enjoy the Christmas tradition of a tree? Well, you get one of these:

The Christmas tree from Büro North might look a little pale (needs some green stuff), but it is an eco-friendly alternative to using a traditional tree. It is made of plantation plywood and linseed oil wrapped safely in recycled card and paper.

You can use it several times (like as a Christmas tree for the next 15 years), and when you finally decide to get rid of it (probably because it is replaced by some equally eco-friendly-passive-holographic-solar-powered-gizmo), it can be recycled, not to mention that this tree has a much lighter ecological footprint.

You can get it in 3 sizes - small, medium and large (large being the size of a normal Christmas tree) and cost between $69 - $1,619 (Australian Dollars)

One major problem with this is the outrageous price tag..defeats the entire purpose!!
